The Brownsteins in the Land of Israel

Chapter 1:

Our First Days In Israel

July 16, 2003

Dear Friends,

Below is a picture of us just after Batya read Hebrew to the principal at her new day school -- Horev -- at a 1st grade level!

Here we are at the Jerusalem Municipal services complex in front of 100 differently decorated lions!  Jerusalem is the City of King David who is from the Tribe of Yehuda (Judah) whose symbol is the lion.

Here are the kids on a lion decorated as a Hassid!  Life's grand!

Oh, and in terms of patience (savlanoot), our trip to the Municipal building was for not because the office that registers children for kindergarten is only open specials days and hours ... as was the case at the Ministry of Absorption, where we will also return in the morning.  No problem.  Deep breath and another cab.

More Later.

All the best,

The Brownsteins
